Bill Sherman
is an American poet and writer.
In 1976 he founded Branch Redd Books, which publishes a poetry review, in
addition to poetry books and pamphlets. Poets published by Branch Redd
Books have included Hanne Bramness and Alexandra Grilikhes. From 1992-95,
Bill Sherman lived on the island of Moorea, near Tahiti. Writing and
speaking widely against the resumption of nuclear tests in French
Polynesia, on returning to London he read his translations of the Tahitian
poet Henri Hiro at the Royal Albert Hall.

to the blackened graves
at St. Mary's Church
& then go to your woman
even should heather be blooming
there's
mist on the moor
& the sheep are there, their
eyes horizontal slits
the opposite of cats
